In the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly, in the Deal Report section, it gives a short summary on details of the starting date:
"Plans for a 24 film, which would squash one of Jack Bauer's really bad days into two hours, are taking shape. "Our goal is to shoot between seasons 6 and 7." Kiefer Sutherland recently told EW's Ken Tucker."

Looks like we won't be waiting as long as we thought. That will be about a year from now (the end of Season 6), so we can expect the film in about 2 or 3 years, hopefully.

Yeah, that's still around 2008 though.

True, but since they haven't even started filming it yet, that is pretty good. It's better than if they just threw something together in 6 months.

Yeah. Longer waits USUALLY means a better movie, because they'll have time to perfect everything. I agree, i'd rather have a long wait, but a good 24 movie than a short wait with a junky movie.

Exactly haha. I would rather wait two years for a beautifully constructed, well orchestrated film, then six months for a clunky, just thrown together mess of a film.

Especially if it's the first 24 film ever.

Which it just happens to be.
